Dawson students head to Cancun, Mexico for the 2011 Spring Break
By Jonathan Feist
Dawson’s long awaited sunny trip to Cancun, Mexico, is quickly filling its seats to accommodate a group of 40 students for a week of vacation this March 13 to 20.
Last year’s trip was a great success, with Dawson sending 30 students to Veradero, Cuba. The trip was the first in a few years, but has returned due to popular demand for this March break.
This edition of the Sun Trip will take place at the “Hotetur Beach Paradise” resort, directly on the beach front. It is also minutes away from downtown Cancun, an area known for its happening nightlife.
The prices vary depending on the amount of people students sign up with, and include flight, hotel, meals, drinks, and non-motorized beach and water activities.
A single ticket will cost $1,433, but if students book with three friends the price drops to $1,172 per person.
“If a student is signing up on their own but doesn’t want to pay for a single room, we will try to fit them in with three other people to make it a Quad, but there are no guarantees, as it is up to the three whether they want an extra person in their room,” Michelle Lee, trip organizer, said.
There is a $150 deposit to secure your seat. The deadline for full payment is Jan. 26. All rooms are four-person maximum.
“So far, over 200 hundred students have come by student services for the registration,” Lee stated, “but the trip will only fit 40 seats, so I recommend to all those interested to pay their deposit ASAP and not wait until deadlines. It would be a shame to have to turn anyone away due to a sold-out trip.”
“We basically take care of all travel issues and any other problems that the students may encounter while on the trip,” Lee said. “For an all-inclusive during March Break, it’s not a bad deal at all, plus each tripper gets a cool Cancun Spring Break 2011 T-shirt!”
After Nov. 26 the prices will go up by $50. Students should go to 2E.6 to get the registration forms and more specific details on the prices.
