The Royal Canadian Legion in a small Ontario town awarded a controversial prize during their Halloween costume contest. The winning costume involved two men: one in a Ku Klux Klan outfit, holding a leash which wrapped around another man’s neck. The captive man was dressed in blackface.
Though hundreds of complaints have been filed, officials say that the act was disgusting, but not illegal.
Citizens in Turkey are rejoicing as they are now able to access YouTube for the first time since 2007. The government blocked the popular video-sharing website after comments were made about Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish republic.
An elephant-smuggling ring has been discovered in north-east India, accused by officials of selling multitudes of the animals in India and Nepal.
Five of the traders were arrested, and several elephants due to be sold have been rescued. An adult elephant can be worth over $30,000.
