The Dawson Talent and Fashion committee is starting to get organized for this year’s show, which will be held in the spring.
According to Boutaina Maalaoui, one of the organizers, they are looking to focus this year’s show on local talent. Starting next week, they will be holding a contest to search for Dawson students who design their own clothes and who are interested in being featured in the show.
They will also be featuring Montreal based designers, as well as a few international ones. The proceeds from the show and their fundraising will be donated to a charity which will be voted upon once the committee is complete.
Auditions for models and talent show participants will be held after Christmas. The show features models of all different sizes, allowing almost anyone who is willing a stroll down the catwalk.
“Last year, everyone involved was willing to help each other, it was really nice,”
said Boutaina, who modeled in the show last semester. The show is a fun way for Dawson students to showcase their designs or their talents and to raise money for charity.
The committee has four members so far, but after the corn roast, where the girls advertised, they had 17 more people sign up.
“The four girls we have a really gung-ho they seem to have experience and they seem really  motivated,” says Billi Poirier, the coordinator for the committee.  After the success of last year’s show, the committee is ready to face this year’s challenges.
“It’s a big commitment, at least two hours per week, but it’s really fun,” Boutaina said.
Anyone interested in participating in any aspect of the show can go to student affairs and sign up for the committee. The auditions for models and talent will be held after the Christmas break.
